SEVEN Update - It's a Game Changer

This new communications platform futureproofs SEVEN on the 4G network and enhances the ability for communications over Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

Our engineers have spent a decent portion of late 2021 reinvigorating the code base for SEVEN communications. We released the firmware to our customers for testing late last year and are receiving some great feedback on the performance improvements. Most notable with this new cellular platform is the smoother connection process on the 4G cellular networks. The time it takes to connect to a cellular network on average has halved, vastly improving the performance when switching between SIMs on the dual SIM card SEVEN models. When sending time critical reports, improvements in connection times can make a significant difference.

We have also beefed up the logging that occurs in the device to improve troubleshooting and paint a better picture of what is occurring when SEVEN is sending a report, receiving a voice call, and connecting to the Chiptech Wizard or SmartCare Cloud. The device log now includes the signal strength and the network technology used i.e. 4G or 3G.

We have also focused on reducing the amount of data used for connections to the Cloud when downloading the log or updating a device. The data usage has been reduced on average to about half the size. With data usage being logged by SEVEN in most cases.

This new communications platform futureproofs SEVEN on the 4G network and enhances the ability for communications over Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

Planned for the future:

  • Security improvements for Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections Cloud connects and report sending.
  • Updates to the way RF devices are setup within the base unit so a larger ecosystem of devices can be monitored, and the associated reports sent on a per-device basis.
