Chiptech Environmental Charter
Chiptech believes that the environmental awareness of our staff is critical to achieving more sustainable solutions by striving to minimise the impact of our manufacturing and development activities on the environment. By growing ecological awareness and guidelines throughout our company, we aim to achieve our environmental objectives, which in turn manifests as our contribution to an environmentally sustainable culture and future.
Our Objectives:
- Be conscious of the environment in all of our processes, from our building and landscaping to design, manufacturing, distribution, and recycling at the end of the product’s lifecycle.
- Strive to minimise the impact of our manufacturing activities on the environment.
- Ensure that all processes are fully RoHS compliant by restricting the use of hazardous materials in the manufacture of our products.
- Consider the environment throughout our product’s lifecycle by using environmentally friendly components and packaging.
Our Guidelines:
We strive to meet the following guidelines in order to achieve our objectives:
- Chiptech understands the lifecycle of our product extends long after the product has left our premises. To this end we have an arrangement to recycle our medical alarms within RCN standards in New Zealand, and 1800eWaste will recycle in Australia. Both RCN e-Cycle and 1800eWaste recycle to ISO14001 Standards.
- RoHs Compliance; this directive restricts the use of specific hazardous materials and substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
- Promoting environmental awareness with all Chiptech employees.
- Chiptech holds its management team accountable to maximize every opportunity to minimise our environmental impact in their respective areas.
Our Contribution:
- Chiptech endeavours to use lead free solder paste in our products.
- General waste, plastic, and cardboard is recycled in a sustainable manner.
- The outer boxes used to transport our products are made with recyclable cardboard, are not plastic strap wrapped, non-toxic water based dye is used for printing on the cardboard.
- Chiptech ensures that we meet the RoHS Compliance.
- Ensuring the right amount of manufacturing components are ordered to negate wastage.
- Reducing environmental impact by designing and manufacturing energy efficient products with a long lifecycle.
- Manage our working environment in a responsible manner, by supporting our people to adopt efficient and sustainable practices.
